Filming Blog for Music Video

Image
Hi everyone, and welcome back to the update on my partnered music video with Melissa. We were originally going to film two days during Thanksgiving week. However, because of some mishaps, we were not able to. The main one was that my mother decided to change her decision by allowing me to go to Melissa's house to film. Before we had created our planning blog, I had asked my mom whether Melissa was to come to my house to film or if I should go to hers. My mom told me to go to Melissa's house since she(my mom) has underline issues with her heart and didn't want to increase her risk of getting corona. Later on, she asked me if I would like to spend Thanksgiving and some weeks at my cousin's house. I told her yes intending to still go to Melissa's house to film during the week. On Monday I asked her again just in case if I go to Melissa's house to film but then she decided to change her mind and said no and that Melissa should come over to my house. This set in sto...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
Hiiii everyone, I am back again with another update on my partnered music video with Melissa, In the first scene, we will be establishing the scene. We are going to make the camera go across the floor, then tilt upwards. After the tilt upwards it will be a high angle facing down on Melissa and me. We will have a notebook and pencil in our hands, then throw them down, and start to yawn and stretch. In the second scene, we are going to be on the bed “sleeping” and this scene will be a slow pan and then it will go into a transition. In the third scene, we will do an over-shoulder shot, where the viewer can see someone calling us on our phone. We are going to throw the phone down after looking at the call. In the fourth scene, we will walk lazily from the bed to the couch. This will be a tracking shot as the camera is following us. In the fifth scene, we are going to put our feet on the couch as if our feet weigh 1,000 pounds to illustrate how lazy we are. In the sixth scene, we will...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
Welcome back, everyone! For this blog, we will plan out how and what we will need for filming our music video. For this music video, we will be filming either at my house or my house. We haven't decided as of yet whose house we will be filming at, as it depends on our parent’s schedule and opinion. We decided nevertheless, that we would film in places such as the bedroom, and the living room. This time around we will be the only ones acting out in the video. To do the filming we may have to switch turns or have one of our siblings help us to film. Throughout the entire video, we will be wearing pajamas. We will wear pajama pants with a baggy top such as a sweater or shirt. We will also be wearing sunglasses. Since this video is about being comfortable and lazy, we will also be wearing socks. Our props will include a tv remote, school books, and a cellphone, For lighting, we may have to use the living room light. This is because we will most likely have to film in the evening due ...

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
Good night everyone, I am back with another update on my music video partnered with my best friend Melissa. We were having a block on inspiration, hence, we searched up songs and cover songs of The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. In the first video we watched, which was the original music video by Bruno Mars, we observed the way he sang, danced, and acted along with his partnering monkey crew. We also noticed that as the costume for the video, all the characters wore a plaid long sleeve shirt with black pants. We also took notice that the setting was the same place for the entire video. Also, there was no specific dance routine for the whole video. The actors just had fun with it and synchronized on some parts. In the video, they also used extreme close shots and long or wide shots. In the next video, we watched to boost our inspiration, we watched a cover video in which a group of girls put their twist and style to the song. Like in common with the original music video, the setting was...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
Hello Everyone, Happy Friday. The next project I will be working on is a music video. In the music video that I will be working on, I will be working with my best friend, Melissa. I chose Melissa to do this project because we work well together. We have worked on other projects as well and received passing grades. We also help to support and motivate each other in other school work and projects. Plus, we live close to each other so it is easier to come together if needed to shoot, edit, and research. Furthermore, we are also in the same AICE Media class so this is quite convenient for us as well. We would not have to teach our siblings and parents how to shoot the angles and shots because we would already know how it is supposed to be filmed. This saves time and everyone's energy as well because sometimes taking that perfect shot requires a lot of patience and work. The song we chose to do for our music video is The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. We chose to do this song because every d...

Reflection of my Great Value Water Bottle Commercial

Image
In my commercial, I used conventions factors such as setting, character, and significant object. When I was doing my research on different water bottle brand commercials, I noticed they used a more naturistic scene. In most of the commercials I watched, I saw the camera either flowing with the river, filming a water droplet falling off a tree leaf, or splashing into a pool of water. Or if it is like the Deer Park Born Better commercial the camera went through a cave. Another example of a commercial I watched was the Dasani commercial. In the Dasani commercial, you saw the water flowing around in a three-dimensional figure, then a water droplet splashed into a pool of water and a plant grew then the water bottle came out of the plant. I found this cool because they incorporated nature into their theme and it was beautiful to watch. Inspired by these commercials I chose to use my backyard which has a wide area of grass, a river on the other side of the fence, and trees all around. I hope...

Great Value Water Bottle Commercial

Image
In doing this project I have learned a variety of new things. The first thing I learned was a way to do transitions. From watching many other commercials and clips as examples, I realized the way they did their transitions that made it more smooth and easy. In almost all of the videos, I watch they used a median to transition to the next scene. For example, making the camera pass a rock, or go into the water, or pass a cloud. In this way, they were able to transition to the next scene, in which you saw the camera coming out of the water, or finally passing the rock or cloud, and then it is like BOOM a whole new setting. This makes it look cool and pleasing and changes it up than from just using a direct jump cut. I also found out ways to crop a video without having to leave out the beginning or end. Meaning that I found a way in which I could crop out the part during the clip that I wanted to be removed without having to go from that clip and everything after or before. This was extrem...

Editing my Great Value water bottle commercial

Today I dumped all the videos I had taken on my phone on to the computer and I started to film. The first thing I did when I started to edit my video was to find the background music that I liked the best. I searched several websites and found a sound named Flying Rock and I downloaded it. Then I went onto the editor app that I downloaded which for this was the Clipchamp Create app. I attached the downloaded music audio to the app and added it to the timeline. The audio being first helped me to crop it down to thirty seconds which helped me in the process of putting and editing the videos together without going overtime. I then started to add the clips in the timeline in the correct order and cropped any scene that was too long or needed to be removed. In the first scene that I had filmed, there was no editing needed to be done to that clip so after I added it onto the timeline, I just took the audio off. In the next scene, where my younger brother was running, the scene also did ...

The Process of creating my Walmart Great Value Water Bottle Commercial

On Thursday, October 29th, which was my brother's birthday, I started filming my commercial. Originally, I was supposed to be the actor and someone would have been filming me. However, my parents are at work during the day so they cannot help me. Teaching my younger brother to take the shots would also have been too much of a hassle. Therefore, I decided for me to film and my younger brother to be the actor. For the scene, he was wearing gym shorts and a shirt with a pair of sneakers. I told him what to do and showed him how to do it for some scenes. He gave me a bit of trouble to do some of the scenes but I was patient with him and we got through most of the scenes without much hassle. In the first scene, I had filmed the area of my backyard so it did not require his presence yet, so he was inside putting on his sneakers. During the second scene in which he was doing the running scene, we had to take it a couple of times. Sometimes we had to retake it because I forgot to end the s...
