Production Blog: Filming Updates

Image
Hey everyone, hope you all are doing well. Make sure you all are being safe as well. We are in a pandemic after all. Its a very crazy world out there. I mean have you seen what has been going on in Miami. Like it’s crazy, a whole curfew had to be made. They were living there best lives. Anyways, I know you all have been waiting for this update. It probably won’t be as much as you expected but various things have happened recently. Melissa and I did meet up this spring break. However, it was only for one day seeing as work parent schedules clashed. On Tuesday, I was off for the day so Melissa came in the evening. This was after her mom came home and was able to take her to meet me.We filmed most of the outside scenes with the main female character. We didn’t get to finish all the scenes of the main female character. This was due to the sun going down and it was getting pretty dark. I was the one filming for these scenes so i just improvised on the angles and movements that I think ...

Production Blog: Minor updates

Image
Hey everyone, I hope you enjoyed your spring break. This blog is long overdue. However, I must say a lot has happened in the past week. First off, family issues are what started it off. Although it has been temporarily solved for now. I worked long hours this week at my job. My feet hurt every time I get home lol. It is a tiring job I must say. However, I like getting to see different people and masks each day. I also like going to work as it temporarily stalls all the unwanted responsibilities I have. Plus, my coworkers are pretty cool. Nothing much has changed when it comes to the process of our final task. Although we did meet up this week. I will talk more about what we did, etc. in another blog. It was really fun that day. We got a lot of filming done for a part in the scene. Before the sun went down of course. In which we then called Melissa's mom to pick her and her sister up. Her sister is one of the actors starring in our show. As well as, one of the cameraman. I love her...

Production Blog: No progress here

Image
Hey guys, welcome back. How was your weekend? I hope you got as much sleep as you needed to make up for the hours lost in the week. As you know I just got a job. Today was my first day. However, I have to go back tomorrow. The internet system was down so the manager let me and two others go back home. She wants me for 3:30 tomorrow and I'm secretly crying inside. Anyways back to the filming discussion. So we won't be able to film after school. However, we will meet on Teams during school hours. This way we can still discuss any changes or new ideas. We will also be filming on the weekends. Not every weekend though, her dad picks her up every two weeks so we would not be able to film. Plus he lives in Miami and my parents will not be willing to bring me there, and I don't have a car soo. We will be making use of this weekend since she is home with her mom and close by. Either on Saturday afternoon or Sunday we will film. We might even film after school on Thursday. Seeing t...

Production Blog: Beginning our filming

Image
Welcome back everyone to another blog. In my last blog, I mentioned my partner and I finalizing some decisions to help prepare for the filming process. On Tuesday I got a job as mentioned in my last blog as well. Hence, we will likely only be able to film during the weekends. If I have any days off during the week, me and Melissa will try and film. She also brought her sister along with her since she will be the one playing as the girl being kidnapped. Once they arrived we prepared our filming location which is outside the apartment building and inside my apartment. We recorded the first few scenes using my phone. We could have used Chelsea’s or Melissa’s phone but my phone has better camera quality. Throughout the opening scene Melissa sister’s costume consisted of pajamas and casual clothing appropriate for school. My costume consists of black clothing such as a black shirt/hoodie, dark pants, and possibly a future ski mask. I did not buy the ski mask yet so when I do we will...

Production Blog: Further discussing our opening scene details

Image
For our project, I wanted to speak to Melissa further on what exactly we will be doing in our opening scene. I wanted to go over the costumes we would be wearing, props we would use, and other additional details. I also wanted to discuss with her the exact amount of characters we will have. As well as whether we will be including our siblings in the opening scene. In our storyboard, we had pretty much laid out most of the actions that we will be carrying out in the opening scene. However, we know that some of the actions may be changed during the filming. We also haven't begun to film as of yet. This is due to our parents' work schedule as well as religious events on the weekends. We also have a huge school workload that we are dealing with. As well as taking care of our siblings due to being the oldest in the house. However, we do hope to be able to meet up sometime this week or on the weekend. As we need to start filming now so we can get most of it out of the way....

Filming and Editing: Planning our schedule

Image
As you all know I am working with Melissa on my final task project. We have decided that our film will be a crime action thriller. We have also agreed on the wide view scope that our film is going to portray. We have been busy these past few days due to our personal life and school. Hence, we haven't had the time to begin filming for our final task. Due to corona, there are some setbacks as well as I had to talk to my mom first and make sure she was okay with us going to each other houses to film. Fortunately, even though my mom is strict on social distancing and staying to herself, she has given me permission to meet up and film. Although, she still does not like the whole meeting up sense of it and continues to remind me to make sure that safety guidelines are being practiced. Melissa and I, even though we have not begun filming, are trying to create a schedule in which we can try to stick to as much as possible. We have discussed that maybe we can try to meet up at least twice ...

Planning Storyboard

Image
We went through our storyboard first to get an idea of what sound and dialogue we would have in our final task. I worked on the storyboard drawings. Even though I am not be the best artist I still tried my best. Melissa worked on some of the descriptions of each scene. With our storyboard it should help to make filming easier since there is a lot to record. We do think that along the way there might be changes to the storyboard. We hope that our final task turns out well :)

Planning: Titles Design

Image
Process: We first gave our suggestions and from there we talked about what should be our final Studio and Production Company name. For our studio name, Melissa suggested names: KM or MK Studios . For our Production company name she also suggested MeDia Production Company or that we could use our favorite color, purple, as our production company name. I then suggested that we could combine purple and MeDia and make our production company name: Purple MeDia Production Company. The “Me” in MeDia comes from the two first letters of Melissa’s. The “Dia” in MeDia comes from the last three letters of Kendia. I also then suggested that we could name our studio Melikur Studios. I like this studio name as it combines a nickname we have for each other. Final Names: STUDIO-  Melikur Studios PRODUCTION COMPANY- Purple MeDia Production Title Cards: Actor Names - Kendia, Melissa, and Siblings/family. We might use our siblings to act in our final task but we have not decided ye...

Planning Blog: Location, Health, Schedule and Participants

Image
Schedule:  We are about to enter a time where many of our AP, AICE, and EOC exams are coming. We plan to film about once or twice a week. My partner and I can’t film as much since we usually have school work to do after school and usually are in religious related events on the weekends. Though we may face these obstacles we do believe that we still can schedule in some filming or editing days. In 2 weeks we also have Spring Break so it is possible that we can try to film over the break. 3/1/2021-3/7/2021 We should have an idea of what we are going to use and where to record in our film. This week, we would just try to get our costumes, props, and location prepared for filming. 3/8/2021-3/14/2021 We would begin filming for the final task and film the first few scenes.  3/15/2021-3/28/2021 We expect to film the remaining scenes. We also hope that during this time we can try to refilm any scenes over again.  3/29/2021-4/15/2021 Once we finish filming we will then take...
