Production Blog: More Updates

 Hello Everyone, welcome to another blog update. Today Melissa and I met up to film. Thankfully we were able to film today as scheduled. With working and taking care of my school work, I have become pretty busy. However, we are such a great team and can come up with compromises. I was at my cousin's house today so she came over to film when I had got home. It was evening time and close to around 7. We knew that sunset would be approaching fast since sunset is normally after 7 or 8. Hence, we started to film as quickly as possible and try to get through as much as we could today. Due to corona, my mom does not want anyone in the house, so I met Melissa outside and made her come to my backyard while I got my phone. I have an iPhone XR so the quality is quite nice. Even when it's close to sunset, the camera still makes the outside look a little bit brighter. If the XR could do that, I cannot wait to upgrade my phone as well. I am the one that did most of the filming today. I took a video of the walking scene outside. In this scene, the girl is walking and looking back as she feels that someone is watching her. We agreed to film again on Saturday and this time much earlier in the day so we can finish all the scenes outside and maybe film some insides scenes as well. I am also going shopping tomorrow so I am going to look for a ski mask. If I don't find one, then I will just order one online for same-day delivery. Other than that our opening scene is coming along and I think we are doing well for just using our phone.

Great Value Water Bottle Commercial

In doing this project I have learned a variety of new things. The first thing I learned was a way to do transitions. From watching many other commercials and clips as examples, I realized the way they did their transitions that made it more smooth and easy. In almost all of the videos, I watch they used a median to transition to the next scene. For example, making the camera pass a rock, or go into the water, or pass a cloud. In this way, they were able to transition to the next scene, in which you saw the camera coming out of the water, or finally passing the rock or cloud, and then it is like BOOM a whole new setting. This makes it look cool and pleasing and changes it up than from just using a direct jump cut. I also found out ways to crop a video without having to leave out the beginning or end. The Process of creating my Walmart Great Value Water Bottle Commercial

On Thursday, October 29th, which was my brother's birthday, I started filming my commercial. Originally, I was supposed to be the actor and someone would have been filming me. However, my parents are at work during the day so they cannot help me. Teaching my younger brother to take the shots would also have been too much of a hassle. Therefore, I decided for me to film and my younger brother to be the actor. For the scene, he was wearing gym shorts and a shirt with a pair of sneakers. I told him what to do and showed him how to do it for some scenes. He gave me a bit of trouble to do some of the scenes but I was patient with him and we got through most of the scenes without much hassle. In the first scene, I had filmed the area of my backyard so it did not require his presence yet, so he was inside putting on his sneakers.
